Cmde. Rajesh Sharma Inspects Sainik School Kodagu

The Annual Inspection by Sainik Schools Society was carried out at the Sainik School Kodagu on Apr. 23 by Cmde. Rajesh K. Sharma, the Inspecting Officer, Sainik Schools Society, New Delhi.

The Officer, at the helm of affairs of Ministry of Defence, is taking care of all the 33 Sainik Schools and the newly opened Sainik Schools under PPP mode functioning under the aegis of Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence.

On his arrival, Cmde Rajesh Sharma was welcomed by Col. Amar Jeet Singh, Principal, Sainik School Kodagu. The Inspecting Officer offered his tributes to the war heroes by laying wreath at the ‘Wall of Heroes.’

The Officer was welcomed with a guard of honour and a special Assembly was conducted. The new Prefectorial body of Sainik School Kodagu for the year 2024-25 took oath during the Investiture Ceremony.

The Officer conferred rank badges to meritorious cadets. Cadet Aditya Kumar took charge as School’s Cadet Captain. The School Appointments took a solemn oath to uphold the school motto of valour, determination and honesty in high esteem and discharge their duties to the best of their ability and trust bestowed on them.

Cdt. Deepti and team presented a welcome dance while welcome song was presented by Cdt. Raman and team.

In his address, the Inspecting Officer encouraged the cadets to embrace open-mindedness, ambition, humility and approachability. He emphasised the importance of the newly appointed cadets leading by example and acting as role models for their peers.

Cmde. Sharma urged the cadets to explore and embrace local art forms to preserve the region’s rich heritage.

During his visit the Officer inspected the utilisation of government funds and the ongoing projects in the school. He also reviewed various academic and training activities including sports, games activities and facilities, horse riding arena, skating rink etc.

The school’s contribution in terms of number of cadets entering into NDA and preparation towards UPSC – NDA examination were also reviewed. Cadets’ academic performance in Class X and XII CBSE examinations were appreciated by the Inspecting Officer.

Wg. Cdr. P. Prakash Rao, Administrative Officer, Sqn. Ldr. Manpreet Singh, Vice-Principal, Senior Master, Staff Members, NCC and PI Staff and cadets were present on the occasion.

Winners Of Inter-School Football And Handball Competition

Kodagu:

Sainik School Kodagu hosted the Brahmagiri Sahodaya School Complex Inter-School Football and Handball Competition (12-16 year age group) recently.

Six schools, namely SMS Academy of Central Education, Arameri, Virajpet, ALG Crescent School, Madikeri, KVG International School, Sullia, National Academy School, Attur, Gonikoppa, Ankur Public School, Napoklu and Sainik School Kodagu, participated in the competition.

The girls team of SMS Academy of Central Education, Arameri, Virajpet, stood victorious in Handball Competition and Ankur Public School, Napoklu, was adjudged runners-up.

Ankur Public School, Napoklu, won the Football Championship and KVG International School, Sullia, was declared runners-up.

Akhil from Ankur Public School, Napoklu and Sanjana from SMS Academy of Central Education, Arameri, Virajpet, were adjudged ‘Best Player’ in football and handball competition respectively.

Col. G. Kannan, Principal of Sainik School Kodagu, was the chief guest. K. Suresh, PGT (Mathematics), the Event Coordinator, BHM Raneesh, CHM Stalin, Corporal Shiva, Sergeant C. Roy and faculty members of participant and host school were present on the occasion.

Air Vice Marshal P.K. Ghosh Inaugurates Weather Station At Sainik School Kodagu

24th Local Board of Administration Meeting held

Mysore/Mysuru:

Air Vice Marshal P.K. Ghosh, Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration, Training Command, Indian Air Force, Bangalore and Chairman, Local Board of Administration, Sainik School Kodagu, chaired the 24th meeting of the Local Board of Administration of Sainik School Kodagu recently.

The Chairman was escorted to War Memorial of the school by the Horse Cavalcade where he laid the wreath and paid homage to war heroes.

A special assembly was organised in honour of the Air Vice Marshal P.K. Ghosh which began with a vandana prayer dance by girl cadets. The event preceded by a skit on ‘Women Empowerment’ and ‘Kamsaale’, a folk dance form of Karnataka, followed by a group song embracing the folk culture of Karnataka and our sister State West Bengal under a unique initiative of Government of India, namely Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat Abhiyan, was presented during the programme.

The Chairman thanked the Government of Karnataka and Kodagu District Administration for their unflinching financial support for the growth of the school. 

The Chairman interacted with the staff and cadets and inaugurated a weather station recently installed at the school. The weather station is equipped with many advanced weather instruments like Sunshine Recorder, Open Pan Evaporimeter, Cup Type Anemometer, Stevenson Screen, Wind Vane and Rain Gauge which would be instrumental in imparting quality education amongst the students in the coming years. 

Gp. Capt. R.R. Lall, Command Education Officer, Bangalore, Dr. Nanjunde Gowda, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kodagu district, Lt. Col. Ajit Singh, School Administrative Officer, Dr. V. Prasad, Associate Professor, Representative from Regional Institute of Education, Mysuru, Vedamurthy, DDPI, Kodagu District, M.G. Mallikarjun, Executive Engineer, CPWD, Mysuru, M.S. Chandrashekhar, Assistant Engineer (Civil), CPWD, T. Nagendra, Assistant Engineer (Electrical), CPWD, Mysuru, Asha Ram, Junior Engineer, CPWD, Mysuru and Prakash Krishnabhatta Joshi, Parent Member were present in the Local Board of Administration Meeting.

Col. G. Kannan, Principal and Member Secretary, briefed all the training and administrative aspects of the school and the progress made in the past six months. The members deliberated and arrived at various policy decisions for future development of the school.
